OUR WORLD - A Season of Giving

Ephemeral as a rainbow held in the hand

LOVE comes into it's own at this season of the year,
seeping gently into hearts like candle light

it is not the baubles on the Christmas tree,
nor the presents under it

it is the spirit of giving and sharing,
of caring for the orphans,
sharing our meal with the homeless or lonely,

of holding those in need in the warm embrace of our homes.

You cannot buy love, nor steal it, take it by force or keep it in a safe
deposit box.

It is only there for us to GIVE.

The more we give the further it goes, a well that never runs dry
as long as we keep giving.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !

OUR WORLD - Somewhere along the way again . . .

On one of my many recent 8 hr. train trips to Melbourne
during my sister's last illness, there was a glimmer of false hope
in the sky viewed through double glass and my sunglasses.

Closer to the city, all the vital and not so pretty infrastructure
that keeps a large metropolis ticking over,

the somewhat seedy graffiti and torn up wooden sleepers

as well al the new concrete variety to replace them,

refineries,

as well as massive storage tanks.

The setting sun just prior to arrival lit up these man-made
giraffes

and added colour to the containers they shifted, that have
become such an integral part of our modern consumer society

and so to the electric suburban train system and imminent
arrival at the inter-state rail terminal.

Like most cities in the world, the outskirts often are somewhat
less than salubrious.

SkyWatch ~ Drive-by Shooting

I'm 700km from home and on the way here I popped off a few
at the sky as we sped along towards Melbourne.

On my side of the car I was accompanied by a lion? . . . a boar??

A little further along there was quite a bit going on in front
of that glorious blue backdrop

and then the fun started. The season of rainbows had arrives.

There were six different ones in all. Not quite as spectacular
as a trip we took a few years ago where we had 13!

The road, the railway line, the silo and the main attraction,
another rainbow!

I wish you all at least a rainbow or two, if not, enlarge mine
and enjoy.

I thank the diminished SkyWatch Team for keeping this meme going
against all odds.

Shadow Shot Sunday & Sunday Bridges ~ Contrasts

The bridge at Murray Bridge, South Australia. Hard steel,
hard lines,

and the soft shades on my bedroom curtain with rainbows
dancing on it

SkyWatch ~ Goolwa Sunset Part 2

. . . and so the sky show continues with Hindmarsh Island
lit up like a Christmas tree

as the Christmas lights fade, a magical rainbow appears

and grows brighter still.

Off to the side the voluminous rain clouds colour up

as the rainbow intensifies and the surrounding clouds lose
some of their pink.

The horizon below the pink cloud dulls to blue, yet all is not
done yet, the dynamic skies are still in store for next week.

Tune in again next week for the exciting part of this particular sunset.

SkyWatch ~ Forever Rainbows

There I was with a post all ready when this baby popped up.

*
Life was looking pretty bleak but how can you hide your head
under the quilt when you get a message like this painted right
across the sky!
*
Above the left side and below the right side.....
*

*
and here is a bit of eye candy on the left and
*

*
finally, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow with all the
Leprechauns trying to quickly hide it away.
*

*
And there you have it, surprises happen every day.
*
Thanks to all the Leprechauns on the SkyWatch Team who
make this meme possible.

SkyWatch ~ 38 I've Looked at Clouds from Both Sides Now...

The clouds came up
in a great big band

they filled the sky
and swamped the land

and as the rain began to fall
we saw the sweetest sight of all!

They are worth enlarging...

Thanks to Klaus and the Sky Watch Team we're still
enjoying this terrific meme.
