MY WORLD ~ Sadness and Solace
head for fields of daisies beyond the rainbow and others weep
over tagedies in their family, when your body refuses to
behave as you desire and strength and flexibility fail, look
into the heart of the rose, breathe in the wonder of its scent

her gentle shyly drooping head touches your heart and brings
you hope.

Coaxing a lily into flower totally out of season, can't help but
lift your spirits.

Go into the garden, pick off a few hundred spent rose heads
and see the rosebush glow with gratitude

echoing your lifting spirits with its perfect beauty.

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ Rebirth
that winter's snows will melt
and somewhere spring will come again
as sure as day will follow night

the quince will bloom in glory then
upon her greenwood bough
and love will come
and take your hand

Remembrance Day....

Today would have been my mother's one hundred
and eleventh birthday...
unlike the weddings of today, no designer dress or
multi-thousand $ reception. Just two very serious
young people, my mother, a university student, my
father just discharged army surgeon.
Life ahead .... uncertain.
Prospects ..... non-existent.
Medical positions were all filled ... they worked at
anything they could find. Father had perfect pitch
and tuned pianos for a while. They farmed but with
the arrival of children, ends refused to meet.
The depression of the thirties did not make things
easier. Father joined the police force reaching the rank
of inspector, mother worked as international telephonist
since she spoke 5 languages.
Their story of the years between the wars is worthy
of a book by itself. It was mother's fortitude that kept
her fledglings safe and together after the terror of 1940
when my father was deported to Siberia.
In 1944, her elder son already twice wounded and sent
back to the front, with the imminent threat of another
Russian invasion, she bundled up her brood and fled.
The story of flight, famine and 5 years of being displaced
persons, fills yet another book.
Starting again in Australia, a strange land, a strange
language and cusoms, even the seasons upside down
and not a penny to scratch with, at 51 years of age was
not exactly a picnic either ... yet she brought us all up
safely and helped each one of us to get a good start in
life. We owe her so much more than life itself. She was
a philosopher and poet who spent her working life in
Australia hunched over a sewing machine in an army
uniform factory just to put a roof over our heads and
send me to university.
Mother was truly a remarkable woman, see also her
granddaughter India's post.

Please Make a Difference

Dear blog friends, like this tree standing tall
in a fire-ravaged forest and surviving, aNNa
of Nature Trail needs our positive thoughts
and prayers for her wellbeing. She has been
through so much in the last few years caring
for others and now it is her turn to be the
recipient of our support.
*
Please visit her and show you care.
*
aNNa has responded to the big C with a very positive
attitude creating beauty and peace around herself but
just now there has been another change in diagnosis.
*
So , it you can, please send positive thoughts, offer up
your prayers, wrap her in white light or spend a little
time sending Reiki.
*
Please offer your help for Anna's wellbeing rather than
something specific, lest we meddle with the greater
workings of destiny.
*
Thank you to all those who care and respond to this plea.
*
AnnA dear, my support of course you can take for granted.
*
With love and light to all.....Arija

Walking into the Light

Dear friends, last night quite suddenly my last
remaining brother walked into the light.
Since I cannot fly, the drive to his funeral will be long
and weary and I will be away for a little more than
two weeks. Internet possibilities will at best be intermittent,
so my normal posting and visiting will be on hold.
He has gone somewhere over the rainbow to be with his
parents and brother and sister......may blessed peace envelop
them all now.

Winter weeding and gardeners' hands

Perfumed white violet
The hole
Aren't you green with envy that I can just trundle down thehill with my trusty barrow and fill it up at the sheep yards?
Then comes the hard bit, hoping that my daughter or one of
the grandies will take it up again. Not so bad really, usually
score a cup of tea while asking.
My back resenting the exertion, straightened opening a view
of the first rather moth eaten golden Jonquil,

also the grass having sprung up with the few days of rain
threatening knee height and blanketing beds and paths on
its inexorable march to infinity.
Can you guess what I mean when I say weeding, they sprang up while I was pruning roses ... really sneaky!I'm game, I actually love , yes, Love weeding. Now I must tell you,
I am a person of great forsight, the Boyscouts motto and all that
you know....I always liked boys....ah well.... I bent to indulge myself
with an ogry of weeding only to discover that my heart had become
so jealous of my knees it would not allow my head anywhere near
them. A bit of a disappointment but I have my ways and means,
so down I went on one knee in proposing mode. Remember the
Boyscouts? Yes I was prepared for any eventualiy, my gardeners'
hands were soaked in Skin Repair to their eye balls, I wore gloves.
I even wear gloves at night to evade awakening to mysterious stiff
Polish sausages grafted to my wrists. Well there I was enjoying my
orgy when I spied some tufts of grass among the Freesias. The clump
of Freesias was rather thick and gloves are not known to distinguish
between them and grass. My right glove came off, but only for a
moment you understsand, and, as my knee was getting a bit stiff
from moisture and cold and hard ground, it formed a little, but
effective, insulator. Thereafter I did what I like doing best....
I weeded with gay abandon, savouring the moist earth, talking to
the worms and squashing the armies of little white imported snails.

My cup runneth over. I am at peace.
