OUR WORLD - Hope

I had occasion to go to town at the weekend,
stopped at the lights, I saw some hope in these
nice dark clouds . . .

we eventually did get a spot of rain, even on the other side
of the range, but not nearly enough.

SkyWatch - Though Night is Dark, the Sun still Rises

The darkness of the night, cloaking hurt and all life's difficulties,
still boasts the morning star

heralding a new dawn, a new day,

unclear what we will see or find in it, but no matter what it is,
somehow we will cope.

Have a great day all my
 fellow skywatchers!

Wild Bird Wednesday & Nature notes - Rescue Baby

Last night my granddaughter, not knowing what else to do,
brought me this badly damaged nestling.

Obviously fallen out of the nest in the dreadful winds we had
during the day and later having to be rescued from one of the
farm cats who mistook it for a toy. You can see how badly
hurt it was by the blood on the tissue and one of the
dislodged quills.
Bleeding, and with a wing in a most unusual position, we really
did not expect it to live more than a few hours.
It's parents had fed it well and with the shock, food was the last of
it's worries. I gave it a Reiki healing for about an hour and we both
went to bed.

By 3 o'clock in the morning, it was clamouring for a feed. Having
nothing in the pantry and guessing it was a meat eater, I fed it 3
small moths that were attracted to the outside light.

This morning it was bumbling around in it's box and yelling to be
fed. We have had 37 C temperatures and searing, gusting winds
for some days, also no water for the garden and finding a worm
was nigh on impossible. After much frustration I finally located one
under a large planter box.

Birdie gobbled it up, no sweat!

I have narrowed it's identification down to blackbird or starling and
am veering towards blackbird. It's eyes are still closed and it's fate is
definitely uncertain but I am giving it all I've got and only time will
tell where we go from here. Meanwhile, it seems to be a feisty little
thing.

Even if I manage to pull it through, due to it's physical disabilities it
will never be able to return to the wild, but at least it may yet have a life.

Post Script:

Late this afternoon birdie succumbed to his injuries.
My mother used to say "I'd rather die on a full tummy than an empty one".
This, at least, he did.

TODAY'S FLOWERS - Tulips

Hallo friends all, it's been a long time since I posted.

Fate took a hand and stuck a spoke in my wheel and followed it
up with letting down my tyres as well.

Not only was my internet down until a few days ago but I also
found that severe pain was not conducive to posting anything
filled with sweetness and light.

Here are a few tulips I planted this winter, that added a little cheer
through this rather tough time.

A few more on the other side of the carport

and a pot full that looked rather splendid.

I have just one more clump to surprise me with their colour.

I sincerely hope you have all been well in my absence and will
endeavour to visit as many as I can in the coming weeks while
I am still getting over this and that.

SkyWatch - Yae, though I walk in the valley of the shadow . . .

Moonrise over our farm.

Dear friends and followers, once again (4th, time in 7 years) I was
headed for the great Unknown and yet again, it was my Darling
Daughter who recognised the signs. She was only here for a few
days before flying back to San Francisco and on to the Edinburgh
Festival.

DD is a lady of action, quickly donning her Guardian Angel hat,
drove her parents into the local hospital, where my husband was
admitted.

Ten years of the strain of looking after him as he sank deeper
and deeper into dementia, was yet again, taking it's toll on my
75 year old, rheumatic fever ravaged heart. I have two man-made
heart valves and now, the third one was refusing to co-operate.
My kidneys were shutting down, causing a massive build-up
of water, not only in the body, but the brain as well.

Impeded thought processes and pulsating vision, put a stop to
blogging as well as many other activities.

I had always hoped that I could look after my husband until he
no longer remembered us. Unfortunately, the disease was making
him physically aggressive again as well as very controlling
without any understanding of what he was doing.

The outcome of this tale of woe is that he will have to be
institutionalised and I am up for many blood tests and specialist
visits, with the hope of being returned to some sort of 'normalcy'
where I can still live alone without needing outside assistance.

Even in the darkest night, the moon still rises.

Thank you all so much who have looked in and sent me supportive
thoughts and prayers.
Each and every one has been greatly appreciated.

TODAY'S FLOWERS - Summer Roses

We all strive towards the light. I think these roses at the height
of their bloom have reached the impossible in this lifetime.

In the pink of unconditional love,

the white of purity

and the golden light of hope.

Shadow Shot Sunday ~ Shadows of the Mind

Shadows of the mind
of loves lost and left behind
cling in dark moments
to disturb our sleep
and keep
the memories alive.

When it lies trampled
and the crows have picked the bone
some glimmer of the truth still clings
and shines.

Nature Notes ~ The Cycle of Life

Spring

and
Autumn

closest to each other in nature, yet furthest apart.

Both seasons of change, one glorying in the newness
of rebirth, the other baring its soul in preparation,

just transmutation never ending.....

SkyWatch ~ 35 Seasons Come, Seasons Go

Our dam in the park in a reasonably good year

not quite full but still fun for the g-children to dive
and swim in

for the last two years of our persistent drought, this is
what we have had to contend with. All our 5 dams were
reduced to cracked earth and the rest of the farm, gardens
and orchard suffered severely because of it, as this was their,
as well as the animals' water supply.

At last we have had enough rain to green up the paddocks
and make the weeds grow faster in the garden than I can
possibly pull them up, but there is a tiny puddle in at least
the dam in the park. When full, it covers the rung on the
diving platform.

Ever the optimist, I look to the skies and hope for more.

As indeed I hope that Mr.Linky is up and running!
To Klaus and the SkyWatch team, good luck with running
this, to now, so enjoyable meme.

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ 13 Roses, more Roses

Please click on photos to see them face to face.

Roses lend grace and perfume to our gardens.
Whether you have one solitary Rose bush or
one thousand, they speak of love and hope and
healing. They comfort us in our need and pick us
up when we are down. Their buds are graceful as
a young girl or full blown like a comely matron.
They are an Angel's breath and a wayfarer's delight.
So here once more, I give you Roses.

'Charles Austin' in bud on a six foot bush,

and open to a perfection of cupped petals.

Climbing 'Sympathy' a rose of distinction for mass
effect, scent and repeat flowering, holding well when
cut and just taking your breath away when out in force.

A glowing vermillion interloper lighting up the
garden with its exhuberant lust for life.

A peep into the heart and shadowed mystery.

To 'Just joey' lighting up the day like a candle
in the night.

To Luiz, Denise and Laerte who slave to give us
this meme, my hearfelt thanks.
