TODAY'S FLOWERS & I Heart Macro A Touch of Last Spring

Hooray!! We have been blessed with 6" of rain over two days,

more than we got in winter in one event!

My heart sings and the garden got it just in the nick of time to

revive the trees and shrubs that were giving up and had lost most 

of their leaves.

Now, with hope in my heart, I look back at some wonders in my

garden last spring and forward to those to come next spring.

and just because I can and because my camera shared my bed that 

night, an early morning shot at waking, yep, a real pillow shot,

luckily the kangaroo was OUTside my garden fence.

TODAY'S FLOWERS, Weekend Flowers & Floral Friday - Spring in Full Force

Spring has busted out all over while I wasn't looking

The crabapple 'Floribunda', that sparingly flowered all winter

surprised me with more blossom than ever

my deep pink flowering almond thought it was boring so it 

added some pink sports!

The oak just had to get in the act and it looks like wi'll have

a great crop of acorns for the pigs to enjoy

and yippee! I have masses and masses of tulips.

I'll show you more next time.

TODAY'S FLOWERS - Tulips

Hallo friends all, it's been a long time since I posted.

Fate took a hand and stuck a spoke in my wheel and followed it 

up with letting down my tyres as well.

Not only was my internet down until a few days ago but I also 

found that severe pain was not conducive to posting anything

filled with sweetness and light.

Here are a few tulips I planted this winter, that added a little cheer

through this rather tough time.

A few more on the other side of the carport

and a pot full that looked rather splendid.

I have just one more clump to surprise me with their colour.

I sincerely hope you have all been well in my absence and will 

endeavour to visit as many as I can in the coming weeks while

I am still getting over this and that.

OUR WORLD - Spring is in the Air

Japonica made a bright patch of colour towards the end

of winter.

At the same time the almonds burst into blossom

and gave hope that spring was finally on it's way.

As the Tritonias started flowering, the wombat was still visible,

when they gathered force, it almost disappeared in the sea of

ice blue.

The Tulips, from showing promise a few weeks ago,

are glowing in tones of red and gold as well as many other 

colours and an absolute feast to the eyes.

In every corner of the garden blossom abound and 

flowers of many kinds contribute to the sight and scent of spring.

TODAY'S FLOWERS - Birthday Wonders

On this special day for me, when I reach my first

three quarter century, I went around the garden

and park to show you the wonders mother nature

has blessed me with on this one day. This is but a

selection of all that is flowering at the moment.

My shade-house full of scented and other orchids

is not even touched upon here.

The wisteria along the house is in full bloom.

On first waking very early, this Adelaide Rosella was nipping

off the new shoots of my rose bushes.

I went to the farmers' market and on my way back, saw this

amazing tree peony. The elderly gentleman kindly invited me

into his garden to photograph it and insisted on presenting me

with a bloom for my birthday!

With these few hardy tulips, I would like to thank all those of

you who so kindly prayed for us, sent kind thought and light.

Your intervention on our behalf has already paid dividends as

the prognosis for my wonderful sister has changed from an

impossibly frightening one, to a more hopefully operable

contained brain tumour close to the scull.

The operation is scheduled for Monday so please if you can,

continue with your support a little longer.

Below is my birthday tree that never fails to have at least a

few blossoms on the day. This year it is in full flight and a joy

to behold

I thought with all the turmoil in the family my birthday would

pass unnoticed but to my great surprise, suddenly last night

my son, daughter-in-love and youngest granddaughter

materialised on our doorstep!

Everyone should have a daisy a day . . .

Heading into the park, I was greeted by Sam who excitedly ran

towards me faster than I could get his tail into my sights.

The Judas tree is full of pretty pink buds,

This ash that I cannot remember off hand has bright pink flower

like leaves.

the Choke CHerry, Prunus padus, takes me back to my Latvian

childhood with it's wonderfully heady scent.

The Banksia is covered in golden birthday candles just for me

and even the young oak that I grew from an acorn is flowering

for the first time

and lucky last, these deep pink blossoms on my red-leafed

crabapple.

And that is not the half of all that is in bloom at the moment.

I wish each and every one of you a happy day!

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ 35 More and More Roses

While the last of the Tulips still linger,



the Roses come into their own. As I hung out the washing
this lovely 'Black Boy', oh dear, such a politically incorrect
name, assailed my senses with its rich delightful scent.



I could not resist taking a few minutes to catch a
different angle.



The main rose garden was awash with shades of
pink, here is 'Just Joey' with a touch of apricot.



'Michelle Meilland', never backward in coming
forward, is awash with blooms of palest pink



while 'Bewitched' is just that, bewitching.

Here I give you the soul of the roses, gentle and
ephemerally translucent,

to spring back to vigour and forceful energy as
colour once more suffuses its being, bringing it
back to vibrant life.
