TODAY'S FLOWERS & I Heart Macro - Almond Blossom Time

Spring has sprung although the calendar does not as yet
say so
the sun rises just after seven, the soil is drying out
the garden needs watering
and the almond blossoms are in full splendour

the blossoms are not as plentiful as usual as we had
a small flowering in autumn and the parrots
have nipped off a lot of buds in the winter

they look so pretty against the sky

their pink reverses show up well against the grass

and aren't they little beauties up close
and personal?

TODAY'S FLOWERS & Weekend Flowers - Blossom Time

Spring has sprung although it still is winter
the (Snowflake) bells are ringing in

almond blossom time
opening buds under a cloud cover

a little more light and a blossom with eight instead of
four petals - will it bear twin almonds
we will never know since the parrots get the kernels before I do

a break in the clouds and pretty buds show their colour

finally a shot against the light

whatever the weather, they manage to lift ones spirits

OUR WORLD - Spring is in the Air

Japonica made a bright patch of colour towards the end
of winter.

At the same time the almonds burst into blossom

and gave hope that spring was finally on it's way.

As the Tritonias started flowering, the wombat was still visible,

when they gathered force, it almost disappeared in the sea of
ice blue.

The Tulips, from showing promise a few weeks ago,

are glowing in tones of red and gold as well as many other
colours and an absolute feast to the eyes.

In every corner of the garden blossom abound and
flowers of many kinds contribute to the sight and scent of spring.

Wild Bird Wednesday - Vandals in the Garden

White like angels, cute, intelligent and harmless??
No way. They may look like large blossoms but these Sulphur-
Crested cockatoos are more like a street gang than an angelic host.

Here the cocky is in slightly better focus.

This is the result of their playtime . . . my hoped of an almond crop
decorating the lawn

and a smug wrecker resting after his strenuous labour.

TODAY'S FLOWERS - Spring in Winter

A beautiful display of gleaming gold as the weeds thrive and flower
in my garden.

Almond blossom have been out since mid-winter

as have masses of Jonquils.

It is such a happy time when there is enough rain to make the flowers grow.

TODAY'S FLOWERS are MY WORLD ~ Spring has Sprung

Spring came early this year, these Snowflakes flowered
early in July and are now just a memory . . .

now I have pots and pots of Hyacinths in all the colours of
the rainbow . . .

the Bridal Veil has burst into bloom and is spreading it's
gentle scent.

Viburnum burkwoodii has such a strong perfume that it
is best enjoyed at a short distance.

Prunus blossoms are a boon for the bees as the

Almond trees are shedding their snowy petals on the grass.

This last week I have been speed pruning my 150 roses and
having to do a great deal of tree surgery on them as they
have been totally neglected over last three years. I am stiff
and sore and am not quite half way there but with these late
blooms that I have just pruned off, how can I give up now?

MY WORLD ~ Winter Wonders

At last the days are getting just a little bit longer and instantly
the almond blossoms awaken to give us hope of spring to come.

Their little stars light up my world.

Just because of the unusual moisture in the soil, the roses
have burst into bloom

and on a sunny day, the bees brave the temperature to
seek a drop of fresh nectar.

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ Pink and Pretty

It is spring time and bink blossoms abound of Prunus,

*
and Nectarine,
*

*
the first carnation to open
*

*
and another Prunus that completely covers its branches.
*

*
Last but not least, this gloriously perfumed Oriental lily.
*

*
There is a great deal more in the garden in flower, so much indeed
that I could fill a book . . . but maybe not today.

MY WORLD ~ Spring Close to Home

Spring has sprung with a vengeance, the whole world seems
a-wash with blossoms and flowering bulbs. The air is scented,
the bees are buzzing and frogs are making a huge racket in the
dams and in the garden.
*

*
Plum blossum burting at the seams . . .
*

*
Cascading Bridal Veil.
*

*
A few weeks ago we still had the last roses,
the roses are pruned now and tritonias have sprung up to
keep the wombat company
*

*
and everywhere, just everywhere the gold of wattles.
Below, the Cootamundra Wattle, Acacia beilliana like sunshine
come down to earth.
*

*
Do you wonder that I am all agog with all this beauty and more
surroundinng me?

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ Almond Blossom Time

A self-seeded almond tree on the road verge, an escapee
from a long ago almond orchard.
*

*
The old trees are barely hanging on but the seedlings are
taling over with their wild beauty.
*

*

*
Enlarging brings out the beauty.

It is that time of the week again when flowers bloom around the world.

TODAY'S FLOWERS ~ 27 A Spring Serenade

"Flowers bloom in the Spring of the year......."

Shedding the last drought stricken leaves, what was
left of the bush is bursting into glorious bloom.

This self -seeded Primula in a hanging basket has
been giving me hope throughout the winter and now,
having burst into full bloom with the warmer weather,
greets me with its gentle scent and vibrant beauty.

The bloom on the Almond trees is fading as the
gentle green leaves come forth.

A little icing on the cake from last year, just because
I'm rather fond of this Poppy, Papaver somnifera.

Forget about the calender, Spring is here and nectar
is on the menu, just a quick flying visit to this
ornamental Prunus which was thick with buzzing bees.

For this or any other season's floral click on the Logo and enjoy!
