SkyWatch - Though Night is Dark, the Sun still Rises

The darkness of the night, cloaking hurt and all life's difficulties,
still boasts the morning star

heralding a new dawn, a new day,

unclear what we will see or find in it, but no matter what it is,
somehow we will cope.

Have a great day all my
 fellow skywatchers!

World Bird Wednesday - Red-Rumped Parrot

Sorry I'm late. Some things are going on in my life at the
moment which make it hard to get up a post, let alone visit.

These little guys are a little bigger than Budgerigars and a
smaller than our Galahs. I snapped them at dawn in really
bad light and had to soup them up a little.

I tried really hard to get a decent shot of the red rump.

Here is a pair of them. It is quite a sight to see them in the air,
they are very fast flyers and all you see is the bright, almost
iridescent green and a flash of red as they pass by.

This is the best I could get of the red rump which is much
more visible when they lift their wings.

There were at least twenty in the flock but as soon as there
was enough light to photograph, they did the disappearing trick.

Photos enlarge if you wish and please leave me a comment it
you can, they make it easier to get through the day.

Thank you Springman for this enlightening meme.

Ringing in the New Year

Ring in the New Year, let echoes resound!

Let New Year Bells
ring loud and clear
for all those near
and far to hear
let Peace descend
from Heaven above
to banish strife
from this Earth we love.

With Hope in our hearts
let us greet the new dawn
and welcome the year
that is being born.

To all my friends and those yet to be
a Happy New Year for you and for me!

Skywatch *5

Dear friends, I'm back from my travels
and wish you all a happy SkyWatch Friday!
*
*
This unpromising early dawn was shot just
on the northern outskirts of Sydney NSW
*
but developed into this charming sunrise

Dawn Mist

The dawn mist blankets dale and hill

it hovers as the sun wakes

in my garden still

softening colours with a gentle light

Leaving my sleep-warm bed behind

my hand extension in my grasp

my night-shirt flappin

with urgency to catch this pure delight
before it bursts in glory

Alone in my own universe

I do my best to gather this gentlest of all lights

my concentrated gaze and lens

drink in the flowers water vapour wrapped

refreshed, preening their plumage

gracefully posing for me here and there

The greens are softened,

pink and blue enhanced

mere moments does this light so rare

sent just to gladden one lone heart endure

The faeries twitter round my dew drenched feet

my mist soaked nighty clinging to my knees

a gentle fluttering around my head

crowns me with diamond dew drops

gleaming in my hair

Gold rays of sun

with flash of sword the mist dispel

which I alone enjoyed

uplifting soul and strengthening belief

alone, cold, wet I stand

absorbed in my own wonderland.
