MY WORLD ~ 33 The High Country

Look to the hills from whence cometh your salvation!
For both the Prof and I that certainly holds true,
we have always loved the mountains.

This trip was some time ago, but i thought I would
share it anyway, maybe because I myself need to
revisit it as well.
A meadow in the foothills I could not pass without
snapping.

A tiny little flower by the wayside, so little, yet so
full of beauty!

A burnt forest with the forest floor starting to regenerate
but the trees that are a sixty year regrowth from another
huge conflagration, are again destroyed for all time.

Gravel road rising up to the lower Victorian Alps,
a corner that was miraculously missed by the fires
this time around.

A mass of Buttercups by the roadside, an introduced
weed, but such a sheet of beautiful gold.

Snow Gums, Eucalyptus pauciflora, thrives only above
the snowline. They grow where no other Eucalypt dares
to go. Snow Gums flower only once every seven years
so that if fires occur more often, they can be totally
wiped out.

Finally we are as high as the car can go, looking over the
Latrobe Valley, breathing the mountain air, clearing our
heads of the mundane everyday, and just remembering
what joy it is to be alive.

To Klaus and the MY WORLD Team my thanks for
hosting my favourite meme.

The Pilgrim

I walk the earth with gentle tread
my feet explore my dreaming
on paths of animals they roam
forever seeking a way home
to myriads of stars ascending
down to the deep of sea go wending
forever knowing, somewhere going
flowers from my full heart sowing
with meadowsweet and children growing
all seeing, joy and sorrow blending
seeking a start that's never ending.
