SkyWatch - Zebra Sky and some Personal History

Apologies again for not participating in posting and visiting for
a while as I would have liked to.

For the last 10 years, I have been in heart failure, I have two
replaced valves and one that needs help but no-one will touch.
Having taken care of my husband as he sank deeper and
deeper into dementia took a much greater toll of my health
than I had realised.

Now, when I launch into doing the things I enjoy, I rather often
sidestep my limitations and end up in an unholy mess.

I ate a little more than my normal small portions and BINGO
my heart resented my idiocy to the point of sending me into
orbit as seen in the third shot.

I am almost back on my pins again, no, I do not seek sympathy,
just a little understanding . . .

One never knows what one will see when looking at the sky
this time it was Zebras running through the clouds

just like snowflakes, no two are alike.

The night the moon left her light behind and came
spinning towards me to pick me up and take me away . . .

I hope you too have pure magic in your skies.

SkyWatch ~ Moonlight

Sorry I'm late posting, I just was not up to it before.

Moon hiding behind scudding clouds

making a magical circular rainbow.

The skies are full of wonders.

SkyWatch ~ Halloween

Enlarge them if you dare....

As the sun was setting, I hiked to the pumpkin patch
to await the arrival of the great pumpnin.

With darkness setting in, strange things came flapping
at my face.

Others, wrapped in their black cloaks, were still
hanging about waiting for the blanket of night to
take to the skies...did I see the glint of fangs?

Shivering a little, I hurried on, breathing a little faster
and desperately curbing the impulse to look behind me.

Passing the graveyard, whisps of grey fog? floated on the
breeze curling around my knees and sending chills up my
spine. I forced my eyes to look away fron the shadows
and stumbled along my teeth chattering in my head.

An owl's wing or was it someone elses, brushed my
cheek, my knees crumpled beneath me and as I looked
up I saw the hanging trees on the crest of the hill....
That was the last straw, I turned tail and stumbled
back past the graveyard, breaking into a run with
rustlings all around, my hands flailing cobwebs from my
face,

when the moon rose darkened in the midnight sky,
bats and larger darker shadows outlined against it.

In a cold sweat, I barely made it back to be met
by witches and skeletons dancing around a bonfire,
ah, the comforts of home.

Thank you Klaus and the SkyWatch team for giving us
this outlet for Halloween.

Sleep

When sleep like stealthy thief
escapes into the night,
breathing the darkness deeply
like bird in restles flight
to roam beneath the stars
or moon, or absence of all light
chasing memories and hopes
in endless roundelay
the little worries of the coming day

Where does sleep hide
when she departs
why forsakes us in our need?
Oh fickle lady of the night
to come and shackle us by day
inopportunely shutting down
our senses in a busy town
with traffic roaring all around
and nowhere to be safely still
while she exerts her wayward will.

SkyWatch *13 Diurnal Delights

Click on any photo to enlarge for best effect.

Gently the dawn awakens sleeping world

with unimagined splendour bursting forth

with gentle tones in noon day's heat

to hide it's light behind some other hill

till once more moonlit earth is still

My thanks to our marvellous SkyWatch team
for organizing this fellowship of sky watchers.

Moonrise

*
*
The rising moon
my face caressing

has banished sleep

once more

*
Outside in still, crisp night

so clear

stars blaze above me

putting moon to shame

horizon kissed by Southern Cross

Nebula at mid heaven

like Merlin's coat

the firmament adorned

*
Though frost may burn

young growth this night

the bright exhilarating sky

shall stay a dear delight.
