MY WORLD ~ Moving Towards Christmas

Christmas is definitely on the horizon when our little township
puts on its street party early in December. There usually is a
street parade with a fire engine and decorated everything from
the ambulance down to littleies with tinsel on their tricycles.

There are food and drink stalls for charities and everyone
has a bit of fun. This deliciously dressed up young lady chose
to pose for me. Don't you just love the smile for the camera?

Today we had occasion to go into the metropolis for a few
necessities, right over to the other slightly seedier part of town.

I must say we had a whale of a time!

One of the major breweries always puts on quite a Christmas
fairyland display on the riverbank below the brewing works.
I hope you noticed the whale actually spouting water.

Dorothy and her companions are there as well as Humpty-Dumpty
precariously perched on his wall.

A mill with a rotating water-wheel, magic mushrooms and
fairies and Vulcans forge smoking at intervals.

Many other things as well as Father Christmas in his sleigh with
all the reindeer pulling as hard as they can and getting nowhere.

I had seen this all before in its dormant state so I was glad we
stopped and enjoyed all the workings for a little while.

To all of you out there flapping your wings in cyber space,

Stay well, stay happy, stay safe if you are travelling and above

A big thank you to the MY WORLD Team for steering us safely
through another year of sharing what is dear to our hearts.

  1. What a fun, beautiful look at your world, Arija!! I love it! I particularly love the fact that it is and looks so deliciously WARM!! We actually had some sunshine yesterday and my son took me down to the harbor to catch some shots and that was fun! Have a good week and wishing you a very Merry, Joyous Christmas although I'm quite sure this isn't the last time you'll hear from me this week!!
    Much love to you,

  2. Terrific! Your town goes all out for Christmas! I was pleasantly surprised to see all the characters, especially the cast of The Wizard of Oz!! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  3. One of the nice things about this time of year is seeing the many ways people around the world celebrate the season. I love the little girl dressed in red, in this part of the world people are bundled up a bit more.
We will be among those on the road this week, praying for better weather than we have been having. Have a wonderful holiday, Arija.

  4. To me,this is so strange to see decorations without snow on the ground.Have a wonderful Christmas.

  5. happy christmas to you too Arija!

  6. This looks like a fun event! How lovely that it is something that everyone shares! Beautiful photos!

  7. LOVE your “flapping wings in cyberspace” comment because that seems to be what we are doing someitmes. The little girl with wings is beyond adorable and looks like she could literally fly away with her smile. Thanks for sharing this magical warm place in motion.

  8. LOVED your smiling fairy dressed in red and green! Merry Christmas!

  9. Happy Christmas to you and your family dear Arija...such a Christmas tradition, the brewery display. My daughter would insist on going every year when she was little.

  10. you are having so much fun in your world. happy christmas.

  11. That little fairy girl is WAY cute!
Happy Holidays to You and Yours!

  12. Looks like you had a great time. It seems so different to see Christmas celebrated where there is so much greenery, although I do remember one Christmas here that it was 60 deg, and we had a fire in the fireplace Christmas eve with all the windows open!A rare occassion indeed.
Happy Holidays to you and your family.

  13. AH! I've never seen such wonderful Christmas pageantry. How utterly delightful!!!

Wishing you a very merry and loving and delicious and blissful Christmas, dearest Arija. Many blessings to you and your family.

  16. I love this, Arija! Local fairs are such fun, and it's interesting to see how similar they are the world over.

Best wishes and happy new year!

  17. Your photos radiate a lot of fun and warmth, like Sylvia says! This is all in great contrast with my snowy world. Even if snow is beautiful most people prefer a warmer climate.
    Have a wonderful Christmas, Arija!

  18. That looks like a great town. Have a wonderful Christmas!

  19. heheheh, you in Australia even have Santa come in a fire engine. I was up in the Gold Coast, and I saw santa hitching a ride on the fire engine. Your Aussie heat must be too much for poor reindeers. LOL

  20. Dear Aria, thank you for sharing with us this lovely fairy tale of your beautiful world. I completely enjoyed in every photo that you posted...and a cute little girl in her lovely costume really made me smile.:-)
Wishing you Merry and Blessed Christmas!

  21. Looks like a great deal of fun! It is very interesting to see a different part of the world at Christmas and how differently you celebrate. Father Christmas and his sleigh look very familiar though. A very merry Christmas to you!

  27. Arija:What a wonderful time your little town has celebrating this Blessed season!
I can now identify with you not having snow for Christmas as I celebrate myself in the desert of Arizona!
