Shadow Shot Sunday ~ Welcome Visitor

I am Sam, I visit my granny every day for my deep tissue
massage. No one, but no one massages like my granny. She
takes her time and always has time for ME.
*

*
Of course when she has a camera in her hand I have to rub
against her legs by myself.
*

*
Ahh, at last! Why didn't she think before to just use one hand
to preserve me for posterity?
*

*
Mmmm, that's much better . . .
*

*
I love it when ahe does that
*

*
OK, one mor scratch of the face and then put it away and go
the whole hog, I've been chasing rabbits all night and it was
cold out there.
*

*
NB I have a lovely ancient, black Oriental witches cat but
she very wisely stays indoors when Sam comes to call for
his daily massage. He is all muscle and as the Ozzie saying
goes, built like a triple brick shithouse or in more polite terms,
like a rock.

MY WORLD ~ Back in Blogland

Aloha friends and fellow travellers in Blogworld. Those who
were about to die have saluted Caesar yet have been returned
to the land of the living.

Unlike this little cat, I came to the bridge but did not cross it.
An allergic reaction to my heart medication dropped my pulse,
blood pressure and shut down my kidneys. I was releases from
incarceration this afternoon and am so very grateful for all your
good wishes which helped me to get through a rather trying time.

Soon I will again take my camera and this or another cat for an
exploratory walk. Here she is checking out a noise in the bushes,

and posing in front of an Acacia in bud.
I hope to visit you all as soon as I possibly can.

Click on the MY WORLD logo for interesting places and tales
and/or my photos to enlarge them.

Birdphotography Weekly ~ Red Wattlebirds

The Red Wattlebirds, Anthochaera carunculata, have
dramatically increased in numbers as our garden has
started to mature.

With Grevilleas flowering for many months before
the Eucalyptus trees begin, food is plentiful.

They are quite large birds, up to 33cm, and can be
extremely frightening when dive bombing my poor
antique cat.

Swooping low over her back and loudly clicking
their beaks, they do not actually harm her, but
give her one h... of a fright.

The red wattles are clearly visible in these two photos.
Wattle birds have a very loud and grating raucous call,
a very unmusical sound indeed, and are not particularly
nice to smaller birds in their vicinity.

The bird was so intent on terrorising the cat at my feet,
that I was standing no more than 2' from it, snapping
away with my camera and it did not even notice me.

There is nothing like getting up close and personal
to catch all its antics.

This year they have had an absolute population exlposion
with a whole flock inhabiting the park. I have never seen
a flock of these birds before.
The vast numbers of Galahs we have had in other years seem
to have moved elsewhere. This year for the first time we have
had Crows and Wattlebirds vieing for nesting space with
the large numbers of resident Magpies.

Bird Photography Weekly ~ 21 The Wattlebird

birds, the entertainment value of his terrorising the
cat by loudly clicking his beak loudly just above her
head, is worth every bit of the down side.
More shots will follow another time, I could not find
them among the thousands of photos on my lap-top.

The Cat and I

The cat sat on the mat
and yes she did do that

but when she saw me sitting down
she clawed her ancient frame
upon my knee, and kneading
needle sharp through skin and flesh
expressed her love for me
*
Curled up in perfect unison
both lost in thought of long ago
of what once was and never more
shall come to pass
in moonlit grove
or looking glass.

My Cat

My cat sits on the window sill

it thinks of this and that

of what life was in days of yore

before it was my cat

I know not what it's life has been

before it was MY cat

it came one day from nowhere

it came, sat down with confidence

and stayed to be my cat.

Now it is my familiar

each decent witch has one

it came right to the pearly gates

when all is said and done

I was rejected and sent back

she came with me along the track

with time we both recovered

a new lease back on life

we've been together ten full years

enjoying every minute

she's twenty and still going strong

together now we both belong

a little slowing down we are

until we follow our particular star

to where we will be wild and free

to ride our broomstick o'er the sea
