The night grows dark
yellow eyes gleam at the corner of the house
the shearer's dining room grows chill
a ghostly light appears
resolving into figures of the past
that once there dwelt
plastered against the wall I stand
until the fitful moon lights up the room
the figures fade
as ghostly riders sweep the sky instead . . .
Click on the pictures and you too may see those gleaming eyes.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!
Oh my Arija, those eyes are scary/eerie looking but your photography is brilliant. Have a wonderful weekend. Blessings, Jo

This Halloween story is wonderfully crafted starting with Halloween-colored sunset sky and ending with gleaming eyes, bats, and imps in the sky.
ReplyDeleteI was so delighted to hear from you right after my blogging break, arija. Thank you for the comment. I’m so sorry about the loss of your husband. When my father passed away, my mother was 76. She recalls the first year after parting with him was tough as she remembered the seasons they had shared. But she regained her positive, young spirit (like you, Arija) and had lived happily…until several years ago when her health started declining at 88. Your pleasures with him back then will be full grown when you remember him. Wish you lovely springtime.
