Whichever way you look, there is smoke in the air.
even overshadowing the moon in the East
all week we have had temperatures over 40 degrees C
that is well over 100 in the old scale
today we had the record for the hottest city in the world
even the sunset was smoky.
There are dozens of fires burning in the state and tomorrow will
be even more dangerous with high winds and lightning.
I am in a quandary, do I stay and look after the farm and the
animals or do I go to our house on Mt.Lofty and protect that.
It burned down once before.
This week has been too hot to think or post and
much too hot for decision making.
Looks like I'll be playing it by ear . . .
Stay safe and be kind to each other.

ReplyDeleteDo be careful.Whatever decision you make, make sure you stay safe.
ReplyDeleteoh, dear! i cannot imagine! i fear wildfire more than anything...
ReplyDeleteYou must stand ready to evacuate where you are, Arija. Will there be an emergency warning if the fires get close to you? I keep you in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteStay safe, not looking forward to today.
ReplyDeleteSincerely hope the cool change comes quickly before too many people suffer loss.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of you - with love and concern. Put your own safety first. Please.
ReplyDeleteArija, that is so scary -- whichever choice you make, be careful out there. Frightening times -- too hot, too many fires.
ReplyDeleteI agree Arija ... too hot for thinking and definitely too hot for decision making. Tonight's fore-cast to be a bit cooler so that will be a big relief to you and to me down here on the flat. Take care ... Keep cool.
ReplyDeleteI have been reading about the wildfires Arija, very scary. Please stay safe and I do hope they will be under control soon.
ReplyDeleteArija I a so terribly sorry about this horrible situation. I will pray for you, for the earth, the trees the animals… for rain to come and temperatures to return to normal, for the fires to end, for safety and peace. Please let us know how you are, where you are when you can. Much love to you dear one.
ReplyDeleteFire update:
ReplyDeletetwo fires within 10 miles of us. It looks a bit threatening. I am putting valuables and documents & computers into oven and fridge, both on concrete and at least insulated.
Wish me luck!
Oh Arija, how awful. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteEverything I can is tightly crossed for you, and positive wishes are speeding your way.
ReplyDeleteArija please continue to keep us updated. These fire threats must bring back traumatic memories for you. The cool change has now hit the south but still the fires are burning in many parts of the state.
ReplyDeleteA terrible situation to be in. I'll keep you in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteArija
ReplyDeleteThe cool change came through for us in Melbourne tonight after 4 days of Extreme heat 40++ days, we currently have 70 bush fires in our State. I am hoping that both your properties were safe and all the animals.
Your sky photos would be beautiful but for knowing what is behind those rich colours.
Thinking of you.

FIRE update:
ReplyDeleteor the moment, we are safe. The cool change came in with massive wind gusts. The temperature has dropped but we still have fires burning near by and the wind, being erratic and strong, can veer the fires wherever it wills.
It is 11.30pm and there is a red glow reflected into the clouds.
Not much sleep tonight with such large fire fronts co close to us.
Thank you all for your prayers and wishes for our safety. They are so very much appreciated.
hope the weather and conditions break for you soon, so you can enjoy being outdoors
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful shots but I'm so sorry about the terrible heat and fires. I'm glad to read in your update that you are safe for now and I'll be sending out good thoughts for you.
ReplyDeleteArija, I wish I could send you some cooling rain!
