Where do birds come to you when you seed them?
Any park frequented by families with small children
will do, even with intermittent rain
A proud Black Duck drake checking me out
sorry guys, I only came to read my book and relax for half an hour
her ladyship is more observant and waltzes right by
next a Crested Pigeon
or two amble over
and strut off in disgust at the bookworm
the bonus for this week is an obliging Superb Blue Wren hen
in the paddock next to my garden

Your crested pigeon is quite something - seems to have the body of a pigeon familiar to me, but the head is like royalty.

ReplyDeleteHi Stewart shame on you for not having seed in your pockets!! I love the crest on the Pigeon. Margaret
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird shots, often so difficult. The crested pigeons are new to me, they look so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the different kinds of birds and imagining what they would say if they could talk... You captured it perfectly... Michelle
ReplyDeleteYou saw a lot of birds while you were (evidently) reading in the park! The crested pigeon is so exotic to me...and the blue wren is different as well..she looks as if she's posing for you. You had good birding karma that day!
ReplyDeleteA great series but the little Wren is very special.
ReplyDeleteI love the whirrr sound as the crested pigeons take off. We get them here, and they always make me smile. Ducks are always a joy but sadly it is quite some time since I have seen a wren. Beautiful captures - thank you.
ReplyDeleteBlue wrens are seldom seen in cities due to the use of pesticides and weed killers like Roundup in gardens. Robins also cannot survive on contaminated food sources.
DeleteThose pigeons are some smart-looking dudes!
ReplyDeleteThat crested pigeon is cool. Nice to get out to the park whether reading or feeding the birds.
ReplyDeleteNice set of birds watching pictures!
ReplyDeleteAs far as I am aware we dont get White-eyes down south - they only seem to be very far north in Australia. So I think you an ID them on that basis.
Cheers - Stewart M -and thanks for linking to WBW
The Crested Pigeon is so beautiful! Wish we had these here instead of the common ones.

ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, we don't have the crested pigeon here in USA...it's beautiful!! And the drake and mama are sweet. Love the blue wren too.
