Back Home Again.

Hallo again my friends, followers and casual
droppers in, it is good to be back and blogging again.
I'll come and visit you as soon as I have rested.

This young couple, some 52 years later has just
returned from a 1,000 + mile trip to celebrate
my brother-in-law's eightieth birthday.
*
It was a wonderful weekend with my sister who still
had a copy of this old photo of the two of us while we
were still courting. As you know, all our memorabilia
was lost in a fire more than a quarter of a century ago,
so it was doubly nice to see this and augment our
memories by sharing them.
*
About a week ago our elder brother would have had his
90th birthday had he lived. One day I will share his story
with you. At present if is still rather raw. His life was the
hardest and most tragic of anyone in our family. He was
the eldes and I the youngest, yet we were so very close.
It is hard to keep the tears back when I think of him.
*
My sister, as always, spoiled us rotten....her cooking is to
die for! Enough! I must have put on half a stone and
havn't looked like the above picture for years.

  4. Hi Arija! Glad you are back! Some old photos bring back good and sad memories. The older we get the more complicated it is to deal with the past. You two look so wonderfully happy and full of anticipation of a great life together. You are a beautiful and handsome couple!

  10. Photos from the past allow us to both remember and reminisce. They also give a glimpse to younger generations into the idea that those of us who seem old still have a spark of youth somewhere inside us! It's a wonderful picture of you and the Prof, Arija.

  11. Arija, you were beautiful and I can only assume that you still are, especially if you still have that winning smile! I know you have internal beauty because it shines out through your words and kindness. BTW, that's quite the handsome guy also! I hope you will tell us the story of your brother one day when you are ready.

  15. Welcome back dearest Arija! How wonderful that your sister had a copy of this great memorable moment. The professor is very tall and handsome and you are so young and lovely. I love looking at old photographs, they are my favorites. These days we have digital photos and they get deleted. That was a long trip you took. Of course I missed you and there was something lacking in the blogs for me. Welcome back!

  16. A lovely, happy picture Arija and how lovely to find it. That fire must have been so awful - but you look so happy in the photograph you must be happy that you have each other - that's all that matters in the long run, isn't it.

  22. Oh my, Arija. What a romantically beautiful couple. That is a treasure of a photograph. Your smile is so very beautiful. I'm sure it's still beautiful and warm today.

I understand your heavy heart about your brother's birthday. I'm sure he felt an extra dose of your love on that day. My husband's birthday is this Sunday, and I have knots in my stomach.

Thank you for sharing those gorgeous photos from your trip. Such beautiful skies. 22,000!? Holy moly!
