Shadow Shot Sunday ~ That which is not.

If we only look, there is beauty in even ordinary rubbish . . .

You may well ask 'what is it?', enlarge and have a closer look.

After eating the little bunch of grapes, I was fascinated by the
coloured shadows the overhead lights threw on the counter.

  1. Very, very clever, Arija. I just love these images. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend. (((hugs))) Jo

  2. Only special people can appreciate simple things like this. There are only very few of them in this world. The rest are so busy and disinterested that only when it is too late they realize that life was a blur. They have no memories of the shadows cast by the little branch that held that once held the grapes. I bet they probably have not spent a few minutes in their lives bent on the ground observing an ant cross their paths either! You have the most beautiful eyes because they are connected to your fascinating mind and lovely heart. Have a beautiful weekend, my dearest Arija. I am doing a quick drawing for Illustration friday before I delve into my painting. Love love love lots of love to you! Tsup!

  3. that's beautiful. love those shadows!

  4. How creative!! And, what an interesting shadow that makes on the counter. Great SS. Mickie :)

  5. Now that is a true photographer, seeing beauty in the simplest things. I like this.

  6. Which was more delightful: the grapes or the shadows of the stem? :-)

I once had a shadow—or did it have me?
My shadow and I could never agree.
    I would say something, she’d say the reverse;
Our arguments flared, my lips I would purse,
Refusing to speak to her anymore—
So my shadow got up and marched out the door!
I have not seen her from that day to this—
That’s one stubborn shadow I surely don’t miss!

  7. Guessed it right away (of course last night we just got done popping tons of grapes off of the stems! - it was fresh in our mind!)
    Nice shadow catch!

  8. I'm always amazed at where I can find shadows and equally amazed that I never really looked for or at them that much before I got into photography and joined SSS! Added a whole new aspect to most everything! Your shot today is a terrific example of that!! Hope you have a good weekend, Arija!

  9. shadows show up in so many places, and in unexpected ways. The bunch of grapes is now devoured, but the vine remains allow for wonderful shadows. The colors are a wonderful effect, too. We are happy a camera was available for this artistic treat!

  10. it is lovely how the quite ordinary can be transformed into something quite special....

  11. Great idea and perfect shadows!
    Have a good week ahead!

  12. Excellent idea...and perfect shadow post!!! I must also add that my cat would go berserk over the leftover grape stems...for some reason she loves to chew on them.

Vintage 1930's Basketball Team is my Shadow Shot today. Do stop by if you can find time.

    Happy Sunday!!!

  13. That's a really interesting formation of shadows. It gives the impression of movement! Hope they were tasty little grapes :)

    Have a wonderful week!

  14. A bunch of grapes? Who'd have thought about such beauty? I'd have thrown it away...well, images like these will make me think twice about discarding without looking. I'm so inspired!!
