I am slowly coming to terms with my new Canon EOS 600D.
Haven't got it quite set up to what I want but here are a few
rushes from yesterday's trial run.
An uncropped view of a Magpie youngster waiting to be fed
and here comes mom with MacDonald's take-away.
A high-wire balancing act as they change places
and a bonus of a Galah feeding session.
Not quite as sharp as I would like them but, given a little time,
even I will get my head around the myriad possibilities of all
the settings.
Meanwhile, Happy birdwatching and sharing on World Bird Wednesday!
both are birds i don't see here. really neat! thank you!

ReplyDeleteFun post!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing great. Any shot I get of a bird that's identifiable is good by me.
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures of the feeding Magpies.
ReplyDeleteYou obviously have a talent for photography.
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous.
Beautiful photo's. I love those two birds doing their things.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new camera. I still haven't sorted out all the different possibilities on my new one. I love the magpies - I only see them from a distance up here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds! I got a 60D about a month ago, and I love it! you are doing fine with it. Its definetly a learning curve.
ReplyDeleteHooray, a new camera! These are wonderful images. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do when you two are best friends.

Working with a new camera is always a great challenge (and most camera manuals tend to be less than helpful) but you are getting the hang of it. Beautiful shots! Looking forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are super Arija. Enjoy your new camera. If these are what you take at the beginning of it's journey, I can't wait to see that journey.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I love those birds just flapping their wings!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your new camera! You will love it! (Hehehehe, I dislike reading instructions manual.)
Great shots, Arija! Those are birds I've never seen before.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, Arija! Those are birds I've never seen before.
ReplyDeleteThe four pictures are great. My favorite is the second one where you captured very well the movement of birds. I really enjoyed your blog and come back more often.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Roberto, Brazil
It looks like you and your camera are getting along just fine.

Congrats on the new camera Arija! Already some impressive shots to brag about. I am one full year and a month into my Dslr experience. What a ride. Please look into back button focusing. That's where you assign the focus to its own button rather than using the half shutter. For multiple exposures of a moving bird it keeps things in sharp focus. Also you won't have the camera searching for focus on every shot. Your right, so much to learn! Have a ball!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot, Arija, I love it when I can get birds in action. You'll be up to speed with the new camera in no time.
ReplyDeleteHi Arija...Oh luck you ..a new camera...it looks like your doing just fine with the new baby lol!
ReplyDeleteI like the Magpie's I haven't seen a photo of one with open wings...wonderful!

Nice bird shots, and enjoy your new camera!

ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
Oh, I'm so glad you have a new toy! Just what you needed right now. I have a Canon, too, and have really enjoyed it. Forgive me for being so late to get to your blog -- been one of those days!!! I love the birds, they're beautiful. And what wonderful captures! Take care. Enjoy!

Young magpies must have the most annoying call in the world!

great action shots; enjoy discovering and experimenting with your new camera. look forward to more
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the camera Arija. Looking forward to some more great pics. I love the action-shot of the magpies with their balancing act, wings outstretched.
ReplyDeleteGlorious captures! love the high wire antics! and the feeding session!
ReplyDeleteIf the trial run is like this, I can't wait to see what follows. Loved your images, Arija.
ReplyDeleteAbout your comment on my blog yesterday, apparently there is a purple variety of papaya plant. These are very common in the Philippines. I came to know about this from Andrea (Andrea In This Lifetime) and she likes it better than the other variety.
Hope your sister is feeling better now. Take care.
I've never seen those birds here but they look awesome! Congrats on your new camera and have fun with it!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of the birds interacting!
ReplyDeletethat´s nice and interesting shots. Thanks for sharing them with us. :)

Beautiful captures!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new camera.
My sister in Southport, has a pine tree, around Christmas time, lots of birds come and feed. We joke that she doesn't need a Christmas Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteA great trial run Arija! What beautiful bird specimens you have shared today!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with learning yor new camera. I still have so much to learn about mine! Love the magpie shots! Wow!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic bird shots! That one of them trading places is priceless. I sure wouldn't notice anything wrong with any of these, but you probably already would have guessed that. I love seeing your exotic (to me) birds.
ReplyDeleteI love those little pink birds, and do have fun with your camera. My newer camera is a Canon EOS Rebel XS. I really like it, but I didn't get rid of my older Nikon. It has better zoom. I still use both. I hope you are having a good time. You have so many wonderful sights for us to see.
ReplyDeleteB.
