OUR WORLD - A Walk in the Woods

A gloomy, rainy afternoon
but oh such a wonderful walk
in a rain drenched forest.

If you look closely, you can glimpse a kangaroo next to
the second tree on the right.

Sorry, I could not help slipping this in with the Brownies
and their leader.

Lichen on a tree like mint sugar candy.

This stone obviously was not rolling, everything was so
vibrantly green and wet . . .

Nature's basket weaving

moss on moss, I found this rather interesting,
a marriage of two different mosses.

What princess was this that was turned into a tree with
her braided tresses trailing on the forest floor

rain: between shots the camera tucked inside my jacket

in every family, there is one with his head above the others

fascinating rocks, singly and in mounds

half the trees have been felled so there is much more light
in the forest and the forest floor is much greener than before.

My friend and companion contemplating the little green pool
that in summer is totally covered in duck weed.

Not the forests of oak, birch and fir of my childhood but a
place of trees none the less
and I always feel at home amongst trees.

An hour of walking and listening here, smelling the wet pine needles,
is bound to restore the soul and lift the spirits.

    1. Yes Barb, this is the time of re-awakening, just like your spring in some ways although the days get colder rather than warmer, nature greens, at least on the ground and weeds grow like asparagus.
I am always happy if I can raise a smile.

  11. Your posts are always a delight, Arija... I don't comment often enough, but I can't tell you just how often you have been my inspiration, my escape and feeder of soul when life is a bit overwhelming.
Thank you for always showing us the beauty in life, often the whimsical, and always making me feel that the world is truly a beautiful place...

    1. Crissouli, I so wish you would comment more, I too need reassurance and a kind world. Life had been a bit on the tough side for such a long time.
I always grasp at the straw, and sometimes it grows into a life raft.

    1. It is really just an ordinary pine plantation where they logged out a lot of trees last year and more light comes in but there is beauty everywhere it you open your eyes.
Fly on over and I'll take you there, I'll even bring a picnic hamper.

    1. I like seeing the kangaroos in the pine forest, just not on our farm where they are becoming dangerous, attacking our dogs and people trying to protect them.
I've just bundled up the rain but cannot find your address!
